We check information in three specific ways: what people tell us, what we see recorded, and what we observe happening. This happens at every level of the organisation so it’s important you encourage your team to contribute openly and honestly to the process.
The audit should also include contacting a few customers to get their views on your business too. This is a critical part of the discovery process, as it brings your customers' perceptons into the assessment. Customers should be chosen randomly however we do encourage you to tell those selected that we’ll be in touch with them soon - we find our clients are usually more comfortable handling things this way.
